My Review

I first heard about this book at the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate when Lisa Jewell read an excerpt from it. It sounded fantastic, so I headed straight to the on-site Waterstones to grab a copy!

None of This is True follows the intertwined lives of Josie and Alix, who meet by chance while celebrating their birthdays. A casual conversation in the bathroom reveals they’re not only turning 45 on the same day, but were also born in the same hospital – they are birthday twins!

Though both women are 45-year-old wives and mothers, their lives couldn’t be more different. Josie, captivated by how glamorous Alix’s life seems in comparison to her own, does some digging and discovers that Alix is a podcaster.

Intrigued, Josie approaches Alix with a bold proposition – her own life would make a fascinating podcast. As Alix delves into Josie’s story, she uncovers that Josie’s husband is more than 25 years her senior and that they met when Josie was just a teenager. But as more details come to light, Alix begins to wonder: can Josie be trusted?

I was completely engrossed by the characters and devoured this book in just a couple of sittings. It’s my favourite Lisa Jewell novel so far.
