My Review

I finished my first read of 2024 while snuggled up with Brambles and Daisy. Unfortunately, Brambles has been unwell over Christmas. He’s had an x-ray on his leg, and we’re now waiting to see an orthopaedic specialist.

I really loved C. L. Taylor’s The Guilty Couple, so I was thrilled to receive an ARC of her new book, thanks to Avon Books and NetGalley. Every Move You Make is set to release on 28th March.

The story revolves around five friends – Nat, Alex, Lucy, Bridget, and River – who are united by a shared nightmare. Each of them has been a victim of stalking, and they find solace in their WhatsApp group, FYST, where they offer one another much-needed support. However, when Nat is murdered by her stalker, a chilling sequence of events is set in motion. A wreath delivered at her funeral bears a significant date -another member of FYST is destined to be murdered. But who will it be, and can they stop it?

I found the portrayal of stalking in the book to be handled with great sensitivity, avoiding any sensationalism. The Author’s Note at the end was particularly poignant, revealing that the author herself has been a victim of stalking. This insight adds depth to the story, highlighting the importance of the friends’ bond. It’s a really well-crafted novel, and I would definitely recommend it when it releases in a couple of months.
