My Review

My seventh holiday read was Murder in the Family by Cara Hunter.

As a devoted crime fiction enthusiast – and a fan of true crime programmes like The Jinx and podcasts – I absolutely loved this book! It’s cleverly presented in a documentary style, using interviews, transcripts, and multimedia elements to unravel the mystery. The formatting reminded me of some of my favourite reads, like Microserfs and The Appeal.

The story centres on the cold case of Luke Ryder, who was brutally murdered in 2003. Despite extensive investigations, the crime remained unsolved. Now, 20 years later, Luke’s stepson, Guy – a filmmaker – becomes involved in a TV documentary that re-examines the case…

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
