My Review

The Daughter is the latest standalone from prolific thriller author T.M. Logan.

I was lucky enough to hear T.M. Logan discuss this book at Iceland Noir, where he shared that the inspiration came from an ordinary “what if” worry – what if you went to pick up your child from university, only to find they had disappeared?

That’s exactly what happens when Lauren arrives to collect her daughter, Evie, for the Christmas holidays. Because Evie is nowhere to be found. She’s not in the apartment block where Lauren dropped her during fresher’s week. A stranger answers the door, claiming not to know her. Worse still, Evie has apparently dropped out of university, and now every text Lauren sends bounces back undelivered.

I loved the exploration of family dynamics in this novel – so many layers, so many secrets, just like real families. The pacing was excellent, keeping me hooked, and I devoured it in just two days. The final stretch, in particular, is high-octane and utterly gripping. There is also a section towards the end that made me dislike something (no spoilers!) I never thought I possibly could – it’s written so well! A must-read for thriller fans!

The Daughter is out on the 27th February and is available to pre-order now. Head on over to T.M. Logan’s website if you’re interested in hearing more about the book at one of the upcoming events.

Thank you to Zaffre and NetGalley for the ARC.
