Can You Solve the Murder? Live in Leeds with Antony Johnston

So I’ve been a little light on reviews and updates as we sadly had to say goodbye to my absolute best friend, Brambles our 12 year old yellow labrador. It was really nice to get out of the house recently with Daisy, our golden retriever and I am so thankful to Waterstones and all other bookshops that allow dogs in so we can stick together! Now on to the event…

Daisy and I headed to the train station to catch the train to Leeds. There I met Laura from Yorkshire Reads and we had a pizza and cocktail whilst we waited for the event to start and to meet more of the Yorkshire Reads members.

We then walked up to Waterstones, where I had booked a ticket for the talk which included a finished copy of the book to pick up! I also kindly received a proof from Bantam – so I’m going to be scribbling all my theories in there as I play/read the book so I can keep my finished copy mark free!

I have The Euphoria Code already by Antony but I didn’t realise he has a series called The Dog Sitter Detective! He seemed pleased to see Daisy sitting in the front row for the event, even if she did sleep through a lot of it!

This was a different style event, rather than the traditional book talk. We were separated into teams and tables and presented with a murder mystery scenario. We had three different suspect statements to read and we had to decide which two we wanted to interrogate further. Following that Antony read us some forensics findings and it was time for us to decide which of the suspects we wanted to accuse!

We were correct with our guess and awarded with a sticker and a feeling of satisfaction. The scenario we played out borrowed the setting and a couple of supporting police characters from the book, but it was written for the event so didn’t spoil anything.

As someone who grew up reading Give Yourselves Goosebumps, I am so excited to absorb myself into the role of detective for Can You Solve the Murder? which is out now.
