Theakstons Crime Novel of the Year voting

Every year, one of my favourite events – the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival – kicks off in my hometown of Harrogate with the awards evening on Thursday night.

Shortlisted this year are for the Crime Novel of the Year are:

  • The Cracked Mirror by Chris Brookmyre
  • The Mercy Chair by M. W. Craven
  • The Last Word by Elly Griffiths
  • Hunted by Abir Mukherjee
  • Deadly Animals by Marie Tierney
  • All the Colours of the Dark by Chris Whittaker

Public voting closes on Thursday 10 July 2025 at 23:59 and the winner will be revealed at the opening ceremony of the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival on Thursday 17 July 2025.

However did you know that if you get your vote in before the end of June then you can opt in to win a Weekend Break Package for two worth over £1,200. Which includes accommodation and full access to the Theakston Crime Writing Festival!
