My Review
Ahh this was so much fun! As someone who worked in the video games industry for 8+ years and grew up reading Give Yourself Goosebumps alongside crime fiction I absolutely adored this game book.
For anyone not familiar with the concept, you are the main character so the book unfolds in the second person and immerses you in the mystery. You’ll start at the beginning and that’s where the traditional page turning ends. Instead of following along you’ll be given choices. For example, to interview Tank turn to 45 or to check the room for evidence turn to 99. These aren’t page numbers but scene numbers and there are loads of them!
During the investigation you’ll also find clues and be given clue numbers to jot down. Not only do these change the options available to you as you progress but they also come into play for a fun score at the end. I got 115 points, I would have had a perfect score if it wasn’t for one red herring minus points (boooo P12 ).
If you’ve also read it then drop your score in the comments. I would love to know!
I bought a copy of the book during the live event, which was great and more about that here, but also wanted to thank Bantam for a proof copy I could scribble all over guilt free!
