My Review
My topsy turvy read of Callaghan’s seminal Kat and Lock series is complete. I would say they could be read standalone – each book reintroduces the characters and gets you up to speed well. But honestly, you shouldn’t. The fourth and final book is out in May. It’s a wonderful series, and four isn’t an intimidating amount to commit to reading in order to have read one of the best crime fiction series out there. Because this is hands down one of the best series I’ve ever read.Leave No Trace follows on brilliantly from In the Blink of an Eye. The pilot of AIDE Lock went well, with a 100% success rate on all cold cases tackled. The Future Policing Unit is officially up and running and the team are about to get their first live case. And what a case it is, as a man is found crucified… The FPU must work hard to figure out who the killer is and their motive. Meanwhile, we get to see more of the dynamic between Kat and Lock as both their friendship and Lock develop. As the murders are solved, the conclusion to them is gut-wrenching and incredibly character-building. I actually cried at this section. Then the ending also builds up to run into the events of Human Remains.

If Callaghan’s series was a play, everyone in the audience would be giving a standing ovation at the end. So please do read this if you haven’t already!
