My Review

Last year, while camping in Europe, I read my first Cara Hunter book, the standalone Murder in the Family. As a big fan of mixed media storytelling, I absolutely devoured and loved it.

HarperFiction kindly offered me a proof of Making A Killing and I snapped their hand off at the chance to read it. Not only was I excited to explore more of Hunter’s work, but the design is fantastic! Just look at the clever Reddit and X-inspired layouts alongside the police chequers – it’s so striking.

Making A Killing is the seventh entry in the Adam Fawley series, but you can dive straight in, as I did. If, like me, you’ve read Murder in the Family, you’ll enjoy the return of the true crime show Infamous and its producer, Nick Vincent. For long-time fans of the series, there’s also a treat in the way this case links back to Hunter’s debut, Close to Home.

The mixed media format is brilliantly executed once again. I flew through this book when I read it last year – it’s immersive, fast-paced and visually engaging.

Hunter continues to impress me with her ability to blend innovative storytelling with gripping crime plots and I can’t wait to read more. Luckily for me I can now go back and enjoy the previous six books in this series!

Making A Killing will be published on the 13th February and is available to pre-order now.
