What better way to spend International Womens Day than being surrounded by a lovely group of book besties and awesome women. Beth nailed another Yorkshire Reads meet! Huge thanks to Louise Beech/Swanson for spending the entire day with us – book shopping, a quiz and plenty of good food. It was so lovely catching up with everyone and chatting all things books!
Our first stop was The Beverley Bookshop, where I picked up a spredges copy of Little Red Death by A. K. Benedict along with a couple of presents. Then we swung by The Works, where I picked up Every Smile You Fake by Dorothy Koomson, I have heard nothing but good stuff about this one! After that Chloe and I made a quick detour to Heron to track down some chip spice. I was so shocked when I moved away from Hull for the first time and discovered the rest of the country doesn’t put this on their chips as standard. Mission accomplished, we rejoined the group at Oxfam Books for more browsing.
Finally, we wrapped things up at The King’s Head with food and a fun quiz hosted by Beth, featuring a brilliant “name the book” emoji round (💡📤 anyone?!) and an International Women’s Day bookish round. Huge thanks to Louise for signing everyone’s books and of course for the boobies drawings!
