My Review

Katie. Katherine. K.C. KitKat. Wildcat. Killer Kate.

Katie Cole is about to stand trial, accused of murdering four men at the private members club where she worked. And she’s all of those names to different people.

The novel opens and closes with Katie’s own voice, but the chapters in between are narrated by five men who knew her: her father, her barrister, a journalist, a childhood friend and a lover. I loved this structure. Is Katie really all these different versions of herself, or is her story being distorted because we only ever see it filtered through male perspectives?

The book looks back at Katie’s childhood including some traumatic experiences and dalliances with conspiracy theories that may help explain who she becomes and how she ends up in the courtroom.

A unique mystery that I really enjoyed.

As a side note when the book mentioned: “pretentious flat-lays of books he was reading: a classic Agatha Christie with a coffee and a croissant, a PD James beside a boiled egg and soldiers” I knew what had to be done for my review pic!

Thank you to Random Things Tours and Harvill for the ebook.
