My Review

Ivy meets her fiancé, Stephen, when he travels to South Africa. After dating for a while, they return to Stephen’s hometown in England to get married, arriving at a lodge they’ll be sharing with his large family. Ivy is frustrated when she opens the suitcase in her room to find it isn’t hers at all, where’s her wedding dress!? But things take a darker turn when she realises the clothes inside match those of a missing woman whose story she read in the newspaper during their taxi ride. What a great hook!

The Wedding Lies is a popcorn psychological thriller with a larger-than-lifeplot. Some of the romantic focus between Ivy and Stephen wasn’t quite my thing, but I really enjoyed the character dynamics between Ivy and her friends, the locked-room elements and the nod to The Lost Boys!
