I had a lovely afternoon at the Helensburgh Book Festival thanks to Susie from In My Good Books for the invite. We were due to head home from the Lake District today so decided to swing up and check out the festival.
First up for the afternoon was Susie interviewing Tariq Askhanani about all things The Midnight King and The Night Watcher. The Midnight King was one of my favourite books of last year [review here] and I also finished his upcoming The Hollow Boys prior to the event [review here] which is equally excellent! Absolutely worth a pre-order/picking up at your local independent bookshop when it’s out in May. Speaking of which, the lovely Daydreams Bookshop was supporting the event so please do check them out.

Next up it was time for Callum McSorley interviewing Foday Mannah about The Search for Othella Savage which was shortlisted for the Debut Prize at Bloody Scotland last year. It was great to hear about a new-to-me book and a completely different story. I will definitely be checking this one out.
I absolutely love Scotland and hoping to get some lorne and tattie scones tomorrow! We have stayed a lot around Milarrochy Bay and Luss on our way up to the NC500 before but visiting Helensburgh was a first for us. It’s a great place and would definitely recommend the festival for anyone in the area.
